Guests arriving for the evening celebration
On Tuesday 11th July, Hobbs House Bistro celebrated its first birthday with an ovine homage party and a boisterous bunch of bistro fans. 50 people made up of many of our great suppliers, a splattering of local press, food heroes, friends and Hobbs House family. The evening was a huge success with guests enjoying a delicious selection of treats prepared by our great chef Ant. All the meat was of course provided by Hobbs House Butchery with chef turned butcher Henry on hand to help Ant out at the stove and servery, and big brother Tom knocking out his signature pitta breads.
We kicked off proceedings with a blackcurrant Bellini, recommended by Marcus from Raffles Wine in Nailsworth which was seriously delicious, summery and perfect with Ant's carnivorous canapés.
We munched our way through pig's head terrine on Sherston bread with pickled red onion, and salt beef on rye with pickled gherkins. Next was the piece de resistance- a whole lamb cooked in the wood fired oven served in Tom's freshly made pittas with chick peas, beetroot and red onion salad, yoghurt dressing and tapenade. Finally, the amazing cake making wizardess, Sasha made the cake of all cakes- a beautiful Bruce Boggtrotteresque bejewelled chocolate first birthday centre piece, held aloft by lay-by Orc Philip.
Cheese was provided by the lovely Henry from Woefuldane Dairy and was greedily devoured by those with space left to fill. Ben Vear from Winstones Ice Cream also came along with some delicious treats to fill our freezer.
All in all, the Bistro was well and truly toasted and we're looking forward to another amazing and tasty year to come. If you would like to experience for yourself what all the fuss is about, the Bistro is open on a Thursday, Friday and Saturday night in the Nailsworth bakery. Check out this week's menu and call to reserve your table.
