    Chocolate Celebration Cake Recipe


    • 272g self-raising flour
    • 60g cocoa powder
    • 10g bicarbonate of soda
    • 182g caster sugar
    • 272g golden syrup
    • 225ml milk
    • 3 eggs
    • 225ml sunflower oil

    For the Chocolate Ganache Icing 

    • 500g double cream
    • 500g dark chocolate
    • 1dsp golden syrup



    1. In the bowl of a mixer, stir all the dry ingredients together.
    2. Measure out the milk and syrup in one bowl, and the eggs and oil in another.
    3. With the mixer on slow, pour in the milk and syrup, whisk thoroughly.
    4. Beat the egg and oil together, then add to the mixer and whisk on med/high speed, stopping a couple of times to scrape down the sides of the bowl.
    5. Pour into the cake tin and bake at 150°c for 40 mins.
    6. To make the chocolate ganache icing, put the double cream, dark chocolate and golden syrup in a bowl over a baine marie and melt until it's all combined and glossy.
    7. Leave to cool to room temperature before icing the cake.
