    Despatch Team Leader

    The role:

    We are seeking a Despatch Team Leader to organise the team and ensure a high quality despatch service is provided.

    Specific Responsibilities:

    • Lead the team with all aspects of packing, slicing, wrapping, storage, picking and delivering activities and the general work area associated with this.
    • Ensure all customer orders are despatched effectively
    • Manage staffing levels to suit team and company needs ensuring correct level of resource for smooth running of despatch team.
    • Support with identifying all areas of training to ensure that the team are fully resourced to carry out all despatch activities effectively.
    • Ensure that the team are complying with all Health & Safety and Food Safety guidelines.
    • Be involved with communication between Production and Sales teams, liaising with regard to product or customer issues.
    • Ensure an effective handover to next Despatch shift/Sales team
    • Ensure all shift paperwork is completed to the required standard.
    • Ensure that all faulty machinery is reported promptly and secured in a manner that makes it safe.
    • To organise resources such as pallets, labels, racks, baskets and cardboard.
    • Ensure that everyone is following the “Clean As You Go” policy and ensure that no unlabelled stock is present in the department.
    • Complete stock checks accurately as required.
    • Attend all relevant meetings as required
    • To undertake other duties of a similar nature as reasonably required by your line manager.

    Fresh

    • Own the slicing, wrapping, labelling and packing of the fresh element of our business.
    • Ensure that orders are packed accurately to customer specification.
    • Manage A. David and early deliveries.
    • Address shortages with the resources that you have available at the time
    • Communicate with the customer and sales. Investigate where possible to determine root cause.

    Frozen

    • Own the frozen element of the business.
    • Liaise with production to ensure alignment with Despatch labour.
    • Direct the daily activities of the packing team
    • Own the large slicing machine and the flow wrapper.
    • Responsible for upkeep and management of the freezer and blast freezer.
    • Liaise with frozen customers in regards to their order placement, booking onto Cybake, arrange the relevant transport and prepare the paperwork.
    • Ensure that all out load paperwork is completed in a manner that enables the company to respond to any delivery queries.

    Driving

    • Own the driving element of the business.
    • Support the day to day maintenance of the fleet vans, including servicing and liaising with suppliers.
    • Ensure the vans are left to the company standard of cleanliness both inside and out.
    • Check that all information for the daily rounds is available for the team.
    • Investigate parking, speeding fines and any driving complaints.

    Our bakery
    We are a friendly and busy bakery making a wide range of artisan sourdoughs, overnight doughs, rolls, and speciality bread; many of which are award winning. Our confectionary team make a wide range of delicious loaf cakes, tray bakes and pastries.
