Who’s behind Flourish, and what is it all about?
Flourish was born out of a genuine love for good food, community, and sustainability. We’re independent Foodhalls and Kitchens based at Farleigh Road in Norton St Philip and Glenavon Farm in Saltford, rooted in the belief that great food can — and should — make a positive difference. Our founders, Paul castle and Paul Hargreeves wanted to create a place where people can connect. Everything we do is about helping people, our community, and the planet.

What makes Flourish different from other food halls and farm shops?
We see ourselves as more than a Foodhall — Flourish is a community hub. Yes, we have some incredible local produce and a kitchen serving fresh, seasonal dishes, but we also focus deeply on purpose. Our goal is to create meaningful connections — with our customers — so that every purchase has a positive impact. It’s about heart as much as it’s about food.
You’re a certified B Corp – what does that mean in practice for your day-to-day decisions?
Being a B Corp means that we hold ourselves accountable — not just for profit, but for people and the planet too. It shapes every decision we make, from choosing our suppliers to how we treat our team and support others. We constantly ask, “Is this the most responsible choice?” It’s a brilliant framework that keeps us honest and focused on continuous improvement. It’s not just a badge; it’s a daily commitment to doing business the right way.

How important is it for you to work with suppliers who share those values?
It’s vital. We want to work with partners who care as much as we do — about quality, ethics, and community. When a supplier shares that same mindset, the relationship just clicks. There’s a mutual respect and trust that grows naturally. Working with people like the team at Hobbs House Bakery makes our job so rewarding — their approach to craftsmanship, sustainability, and community mirrors our own values, and that shared purpose creates real synergy.
Do you remember how you first came across Hobbs House Bakery? How long have we been working together now?
We’ve admired Hobbs House for years — their reputation for quality and integrity precedes them. We thought it was only natural to reach out to a local producer who aligned with our values, and Hobbs House was right at the top of the list. We’ve been working together since 2022.
How has the relationship evolved over time?
It’s really grown into a genuine partnership. From the start, they understood what Flourish was trying to build — not just a shop, but a movement for better food. Over time, we’ve collaborated on events, such as our Christmas evening which is a customer favourite — which means customers can interact and understand that we have a shared belief that food can be a force for good.
Which Hobbs products have become customer favourites?
Without a doubt, their sourdough loaves fly off the shelves. Our customers love the texture and depth of flavour — it’s that perfect combination of craft and consistency.
And also, the award winning Sherston loaf. But we always have customers asking about the seasonal specials such as the easter biscuits and hot cross buns we had at Easter.

Is there a particular moment, product launch, or collaboration that stands out?
One that really stands out is the most recent Christmas evening, where Flourish and Hobbs House, and other suppliers came together to celebrate, all the amazing produce we sell. Seeing customers connecting directly with Hobbs House — hearing about the heritage and heart behind each loaf — was such a highlight. It really captured what this partnership is all about: good food, shared values, and a strong sense of community.
