10 Years of Supporting Children in Tanzania

For the last 10 years, we have had the pleasure of working alongside the Ifakara Bakery Project to support children and communities in Tanzania. Through sales of our GiFt Gluten Free loaf, we are able to donate bread to those who need it most.

Over the years, it has been lovely to hear about the impact these donations have made. Together, we have helped provide:

• 200,000 loaves of bread
• 1.6 million meals provided for the community
• 15,000 children fed
• 1,000 of expectant mothers in the maternity ward

The Ifakara Bakery Project has been serving its community for more than 25 years. When the bakery first began, it set out to provide the local population with a reliable supply of fresh bread throughout the year. As the bakery grew, so did its reach.

Over time, the project developed partnerships with local hospitals, orphanages and community organisations, helping to support some of the most vulnerable people in the region. Fresh bread became more than a staple food, providing nourishment and comfort to the community.

Since then, the project has continued to expand its services and support, reaching even more families and strengthening the communities it serves. Thanks to the continued support of our customers, every GiFt Gluten Free loaf purchased helps contribute to this ongoing work.

At Hobbs, we are always looking for ways to support our communities here in the South West. Being able to extend that support internationally through our partnership with the Ifakara Bakery Project is something we are incredibly proud of. It is a wonderful reminder that good bread has the power to bring people together, wherever they are in the world.
