Is It Too Early For a Mince Pie?
The first signs that Christmas is getting closer are starting to appear. Christmas adverts on TV, decorations lining the high streets, nights drawing in and, of course, festive food starting to land on shop shelves.
And then, almost inevitably, someone asks the question: is it too early for a Mince Pie?
For some, Mince Pie season starts the moment it turns November, whilst for others, opening a box before December 1st is practically unthinkable. And then there's the third kind of person who takes a much simpler approach: if a Mince Pie is available, why wouldn't you have one?
At Hobbs, we're not convinced there is a right or wrong answer. After all, a warm Mince Pie is sure to brighten a grey and rainy autumnal day.
So, should we be holding off a little longer, or is November the perfect time to tuck into your first Mince Pie of the season?
Why November is the perfect time to have a Mince Pie?
November has a certain feel about it. The days are getting shorter, the weather is turning colder, and we all start to hibernate a little. It also feels like a transition month between two seasons. Autumn hasn't quite finished, but Christmas is already beginning to make some noise. With December and the festive rush beginning to creep in, it can sometimes feel like we don't have a chance to catch our breath.
Enter Mince Pies...
Not because we believe that Christmas needs to start any earlier, or that the decorations need to go up just yet. Simply because one of the nicest bits about this time of year is adding little moments of joy around everything else.
There's no need to make any grand occasion of it. No need to have finished your Christmas shopping or put the tree up. Sometimes, all you need is a seasonal treat to make an ordinary day feel a little more special.
